About me

Personal interest, individual activities

Growing up in undemocratic Poland and in a household of women (with my dad, mom and a sister) I work on democracy and empowerment of women. My own family in the United States, however, is one of all men. My husband and five children (two sons and three step-sons) enjoy traveling.

Some years ago, I used to be a tour guide and, more recently translator for U.S. companies and for Russian government meetings in the United States (I speak fluent Polish, Russian and Slovakian, and have moderate command of Ukrainian). I also enjoy gardening, downhill skiing and cycling, I have biked across Poland, France, Germany, Greece and a number of Eastern European countries.

Most of all, however, I enjoy listening to music, especially classical music and love art. Few years ago I organized a special exhibit of Polish art that was part of the festivities heralding the opening of UB's new humanities center. More recently, also at UB, I organized exhibit of renowned Polish artist K. Zygadlewicz. The art exhibit was assisted by a fortepiano concert of well-known European performer S. Neonano.
